I’ve lived in the East Coast of the United States for most of my life, but I grew up in the capital of Perú, Lima.
Miraflores has always held a special place in my heart. It’s where I spent a considerable amount of time as a teenager. I learned to surf along its beaches and where I forged lasting friendships. It’s where my parents now live - a second home - and always my home base when I travel back to Perú.

Most travelers to Perú will often skip Lima and its suburbs and head inland to the Capital of the Inca Empire, Cuzco, and its most popular attraction, Machu Picchu. But Lima and Miraflores have a ton to offer. Founded in 1535, the City of Kings, is rich in history. Lima served as the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru and was as a central commerce and trade center with the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Lima is Perú’s largest city and has a bustling population totaling nearly 11 million. The city is compact and composed of various municipalities, including Miraflores, one of its most affluent.
Beyond the historic buildings and sights, Lima is also known as the gastronomical capital of Latin America. Lima is home to hundreds of great restaurants, including 2 (both in Miraflores) of the world’s top 50 restaurants.
Make sure that when you visit you have at least a Cebiche and a Pisco Sour. If you have more time I highly recommend you visit Panchita, a popular Miraflores restaurant that celebrates traditional Peruvian cuisine. And, if you can, venture south on “La Ruta del Pisco”, a popular tour that will take you to some of the region’s best Pisco producers.

This is a map I have been working on for some time and what I generally share with friends traveling to Peru and stying in Lima/Miraflores.
The map includes popular points of interest in and around Miraflores, including great places to eat.
I've also added local points of interest in and around Cusco.
I will continue to add and update points of interest over time to help friends find their way around not only around Miraflores but in and around other places in Lima and throughout Perú.
