12 out and 12 back. From home to the fields and teh trail on Spriggs and back. Felt good – great pace…
Officially started my training routine today for the July 12th Rocky Gap Xterra.
Up until today, and over the course of the last three weeks I have been preparing for this day by building my main base running and biking endurance. Mainly to make sure I could sustain the times I will be building upon for the race. Tomorrow I get to do my first swim – we’ll see how that goes.
All of this is really not new to me, but 4 years ago, shortly after my daughter was born I stopped working out pretty much altogether. I still did some riding now and then but my activity level drastically went down while my eating and beer drinking went up. Over the course of that time I gained and maintained nearly 30 extra pounds…
Three weeks ago it clicked, and I decided to get back on the training wagon so I started to run and exercise gradually again.
Today I did my first “training” run and I’m pleased to say it went very well. Despite a sore throat (spring allergies are starting to kick in) I managed to get a solid 24 minutes of running at a good clip.
